The fact of the matter is that pirates have always been well known for stealing valuable gold or silver and then burying this treasure for safekeeping.  The idea for these pirates was to go back later for their treasure; however, often times they were never able to live long enough to uncover this treasure!

So, what does that mean for us today?  It means that there is millions (billions perhaps) of dollars worth of treasure waiting for the lucky hunter to find.  This is a fact that has kept full time metal detector users and hobbyist busy for years looking for the lost pot of gold.

To prove that there is indeed real buried treasure to be found; all you need to do is check the news about recently uncovered artifacts or other treasure findings.  These findings are becoming more and more common every day.  This is partly due to the fact that the metal detecting tools that are used today are so much more advanced.

So, if you are interested in going on a real pirate treasure hunt; you are in luck.  There is plenty of “booty” to be found.  However, this hobby or occupation takes a great deal of learning to master.  You need to learn the history of the area that you wish to search as well as learn how to use a metal detector or other treasure hunting tools.

Now if you are looking to just put on a kids pirate treasure hunt; you can simply do something generic.  However, if you want to make a more memorable experience, I suggest that you learn the real history of a real pirate or famous lost treasure and base the hunt off of these facts.

Not only will you make a fun and memorable treasure hunt for kids; you will be helping them learn to interesting history as well!
